Two ZWOWs nestled between two rest days. The two routines I did on the 26th and 27th were formatted slightly different than what I've been doing. A few exercises and the goal is to run through the circuit as many times as you can in 10 minutes.
You may be thinking, "10 minutes, really? Jasmin, you're such a pansy!" Cause I thought that when I first heard her say 10 minutes as hard as you can. Let me just tell ya... I didn't know I could sweat so much in so little time.
Day 26 - ZWOW #6
3 exercises, 10 minutes, As Many Rounds As Possible (AMRAP). My legs were BURNING, on fire, I say! The jump lunge kick...holy shit.
I've read, in the hours and hours of research I've done lately, that there's no better move for your legs than squats and lunges. I hate lunges. If lunges were an insect, I'd get immense pleasure from walking around the garage stomping on them until they were nothing more than splatter on the concrete.
Hmm... Perhaps that's a bit extreme. You'll have to forgive me, sometimes the diet rage is speaking and not me.
I thought I'd be able to get at least 4 rounds on this one. But I'd told myself nothing less than 3 before I started. I finished that 6th and final kick just as my timer went off. Huzzah! Can't wait to redo this one sometime in July to see if I can smash my time.
Day 27 - Weight Lifting followed by ZWOW #5
I've been reading up on heavy lifting and decided it was time I get reacquainted with my weight bench. Now, we've all see The Matrix, I presume? You know the bit where Morpheus speaks of residual self image? Well, in my head, I'm such a bad ass that it's just ridiculous. In my head I'm built like Serena Williams on a Venus frame with an attitude like The Rock. But sometimes I forget that my body is still trying to catch up to my mind!
I'm always remind of how far I've got to get when I hit the bench press. I don't know how much the bar weighs (I should figure that out), but I've got 40lbs of weight on it. Yes. Not a typo. 40. I laugh at myself every time I get under those 40 pounds. Today I did 5x8s, once with wide arms and once with a close grip. That 5 sets of 8 reps.
I almost got 3 times through this one. Just 5 competition burpees standing between me and 3 full rounds...
We've all got to start somewhere, right?
